Laura Vila

Senior Investment Officer, International Finance Corporation, Mexico City

Laura is a Senior Investment Officer of the China-Mexico Fund since 2016. During this time, she was responsible for Oil & Gas related investments and strategy and has actively managed the Fund’s investment in Citla Energy SAPI de CV, an E&P company. Also, she is a Board member of Altan Redes SAPI de CV, a telecommunications company.

Before joining the Fund’s team, she was the deputy Mexico Country Manager of IFC, where she led business development efforts in sectors such as telecommunications, oil and gas, and private equity funds, and, worked in equity and debt transactions in various sectors.

Laura joined IFC in 2005 and before coming to Mexico in 2010, she worked in the Portfolio Management and the Equity department. Previous to IFC, Laura worked for 5 years at the Central Bank of Colombia in the international reserves department. With over 15 years of experience in international financial institutions holding senior management positions focused on implementing strategy and suitable private equity and debt transactions in emerging markets, she has a particular combination of investment skills and multicultural experience.

She holds a Master’s in Financial Engineering and a Master’s in Applied Economics from University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, Colombia. She is fluent in Spanish and English and has conversational skills in Italian and Portuguese.
